ASTM A423 Grade 1 Electric-Welded Steel Tubes for pressure containing parts such as economizers or other applications where corrosion resistance is important.
ASTM A423 Grade 1 Tube is a grade of carbon steel known as the weathering steel. The specialty of the material is that it forms an oxide layer when exposed to severe weather conditions. The oxide layer formed on the surface is called the patina. Once the patina is formed, it resists contact with the atmosphere and therefore the core of the material remains non-corroded for longer periods of time. This is also called the Corten Steel GR.1 ERW Pipe and it is used under open weather applications. Most outdoor systems that are exposed to weather use this kind of pipes.
ASTM A423 Grade 1 is an alloy steel that produces a rust-colored protective coating. This coating protects the material from atmospheric corrosion and resists corrosion, making the material more resistant to environmental factors than mild steel. It also provides a uniform & pleasing appearance that is desirable for many applications. ASTM A423 Corten Steel Pipes GRADE 1 are also known as weathering steel or corrosion-resistant steel. These tubes are popular for outdoor systems, such as economizers and air-preheating pipes, that may be exposed to various conditions. Production process
1. Materials: Take the raw materials out of the raw material warehouse or procurement channels, and conduct inspection and sorting;
2, temperature control: according to the required performance of the product, choose the appropriate temperature, and control it within a certain range;
3. Heating: Use hot blast stove or other heating methods to heat raw materials to the required temperature;
4, annealing: the heated raw materials into the torch box for annealing treatment, in order to improve the mechanical properties of raw materials;
5. Hot rolling: Put the heated raw materials into the hot rolling mill, and process the raw materials through pressure to obtain the required products;
6, cooling: hot rolled products with water or other coolant for cooling, to ensure the stability of the product structure;
7, detection: physical and chemical performance test to determine whether it meets the requirements;
8. Finishing: Organize the products, label them, and prepare them for loading and delivery.
Testings
Mechanical Tests Required
Tension Test-One tension test will be made on a specimen for lots of not more than 50 tubes.
Flattening Test-One flattening test will be made on specimens from each end ofone finished tube, not the one used for the flaring or flanging test, from each lot .
Flange Test (ASTM A423 Grade 1 Welded Steel Tubes)-One flange test shall be made on specimens from each end of one finished tube, not the one used for the flattening test, from each lot.
Hardness Test-Brinell or Rockwell hardness tests will be made on specimens from two tubes from each lot
Reverse Flattening Test-For welded tubes, one reverse flattening test shall be made on a specimen from each 1500 ft [460 m] of finished tubing.
General Requirements
All tubes shall be supplied as per applicable ASTM B338 /B338M, ASTM A450/A450M Specification
Mill test certificates will be issued
